Dreamer Scholars Volunteer with Elderly

Hot off the “I Have A Dream” Foundation presses:

“Fifth graders in the “I Have A Dream” program at Columbine Elementary recently started volunteering at Frasier Meadows, helping senior citizens with fun group activities, like drum circle and card games. The Dreamer Scholars also help residents return to their rooms after the activities.

“I Have A Dream” program services include more than just academic support. We help kids learn about the impact of service to their community. We want them to know they can make a difference in their world.

Dreamer Scholars say the experience has been wonderful. Selena says, “Volunteering is amazing. The people are funny and nice. They tell us cool stories about the past.” Ashley says, “I felt nervous at first but then I got used to it. It’s good that we go there to care for them…so seniors don’t get lonely.”
